Anthony “Tony” Searcy, originally from Boston, Massachusetts, brings more than 15 years of coaching, player development, and leadership experience to the Salem Capitals. A former Division I athlete, Searcy played at Alcorn State University after earning All-Region XV honors at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he graduated with a degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications. He went on to play professionally in the Continental Basketball Association with the Birmingham Steel before transitioning into coaching.
Back in Boston, Searcy built a reputation as one of the city’s top high school coaches, guiding his teams to 10 Massachusetts State Tournament appearances, including three Final Four runs and five Boston City Championships. He’s helped over 100 student-athletes continue their basketball careers at the college level.
Searcy later co-founded Team Sims, a New England program competing on the Under Armour Circuit, and has trained elite players ranging from high school prospects to NBA and WNBA professionals. In 2022, he joined the Portland Trail Blazers as Youth Basketball Director before becoming head coach of the Salem Capitals.
Now as Head Coach of the Salem Capitals, Searcy continues to bring his passion for teaching, discipline, and player growth to the professional stage building a culture rooted in accountability, competitiveness, and development.
